Experience
I believe that the goal of all education is to instill values and abilities relating to critical thinking. History, literature, language, and writing are all exercises in the receipt and interpretation of ideas applicable across many of life's experiences. Competence in these fields creates better students, problem solvers, and citizens. Let's work together to get there. As a recent graduate, I have a unique understanding of what is required at many academic levels. I am here to help with understanding classes that you or your child are already taking. I can work with students from 5th Grade social studies to AP test prep to collegiate undergraduate courses. I am happy to supplement course materials with advanced notice, or work with materials and assignments already provided to you or your student. I am happy to help with any essay writing, editing, improvement, and planning (college application essays included), primary source interpretation, homework help, and test preparation. Supporting my pedagogy and educational style are: A recent liberal arts degree from a leading private college. Three years (2014-2016) teaching practical outdoor skills to students ages 9-18 at the June Norcross Webster Scout Reservation as Camp Staff and Merit Badge Instructor. In 2016, I served as the Director of the Counselor-In-Training program, designing and implementing my own curriculum for the training of future camp staff ages 14-17. Internships and Employment at The Slater Museum in Norwich, CT (2015-2017), Mystic Seaport Museum in Mystic, CT (2017-2018), and the Cape Ann Museum in Gloucester, MA (2019), performing duties such as Tour Guide, Curator, Educator, Researcher, and Display Writer. Three academic years (2017-2020) as a Resident Assistant at Endicott College, providing education, support, and professional representation to residents in my Residence Hall and across campus. Experience providing informal peer tutoring to classmates throughout my college experience with emphasis on improvement in essay writing.. So, whether you just need to pass that one tough class, want to expand your interest in a subject you already study, want a boost in confidence with remote learning, or have your eye set on a life of academia, let's get to work. My classroom is a safe and inclusive space for all genders, races, ages, cultures, and personal identities.

Hobbies
I am a published poet and amateur photographer. I am an Eagle Scout (c/o 2016) and enjoy time in the outdoors, including hiking, camping, boating, and cooking. I value travel and cultural exchange, having visited ten countries including Japan, Ireland, Scotland, and The Netherlands. Finally, I am an avid soccer fan, and former player/coach in love with all levels of the game. My personal areas of study are US History, UK/Irish History, Atlantic/Maritime History, Music History, and Modern Philosophy. My senior thesis evaluated and narrativized the evolution of the shipboard medical chest over four and a half centuries from its creation in the British Isles, through its peak years during the maritime expansion of the British Empire, to its decline and replacement with contemporary medical technology and underway rescue over the last fifty years. The project included the use of historical and medical academic and military journals from around the world, and primary source work with artifacts and documents from the late middle ages through modernity. My research was conducted in person at the Cape Ann Museum Archives and Endicott College’s Diane M. Halle Library, and in virtual collections from The British Museum, Boston Public Library, National Maritime Museum of Cornwall, Mystic Seaport Museum, and more. My future goals include expanding this research and publication, with a view towards PhD research in maritime history.
